Checking in for April!

April is one of my favorite months of the year.  It's my birthday month.  It's a month that signals the start of Spring, new life, Easter and family holidays and the weather really starts to warm up.  This April has been no exception to all of my favorite things, but it's definitely all come with a BIG twist: COVID-19.  We're well into the stay-at-home order, and I honestly can't even remember what "number" day it is, but it feels like Day 9,454 of this new normal.

The last official month of school has rolled again pretty smoothly, all things being considered.  It is definitely not the ideal (or the expected) way to conclude a Master's program, for sure.  But, even in these times, we have found some ways to keep a semblance of normalcy to the program.  Most of our classes resumed online, and things felt pretty much the same.  I've even found it easier and less stressful to give my class presentations through Zoom.  It's been challenging not to worry about everything else going on in the world at this time, but I'm also grateful to be able to keep busy and stay focused on the remaining classes and finishing the semester strong.

As I look towards my future goals, I'm cautiously optimistic.  I'm extremely hopeful for my future and what lies ahead.  I'm also watching closely and carefully to understand how the last 6 weeks will shape the upcoming application cycle and the next year, which will be critical to my future career.  Overall, I remind myself that the only constant is change.  And also, that I have the support of my Tulane "family" behind me as I continue to pursue my goals for medical school and a career in medicine.
